ISDIN Essential Purifier is a facial cleansing foam from the Isdinceutics line, formulated with olive leaf extract, panthenol, and glycerin. Its light, airy texture removes impurities and excess sebum while preserving the skin’s moisture.
ISDIN Essential Purifier is the daily facial cleanser from the Isdinceutics line. Dispensed from an aerosol bottle, it comes out directly as a light foam, without having to lather the product in your hands. Its cleansing base combines three gentle surfactants: sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, and cocamidopropyl betaine. In addition, the formula combines glycerin, panthenol (provitamin B5), saccharide isomerate—a complex of plant-derived sugars—as well as olive leaf extract and lavender flower extract.
Its primary function is to cleanse the skin of impurities that accumulate over time. The foam removes impurities and excess sebum: sweat, skincare residue, and pollution particles that settle on the skin throughout the day. Measured after a single use in 30 people, impurity removal reached up to 91%. This makes it one of the facial cleansing foams suitable for daily use, regardless of skin type.
The second benefit of the formula lies in what it leaves on the skin. A cleanser that’s too harsh strips away not only sebum but also some of the skin’s natural lipids and surface moisture, resulting in a tight, dry feeling after rinsing. Here, glycerin, panthenol, and saccharide isomerate help retain water on the skin’s surface: the foam cleanses while preserving the skin’s moisture. In a 28-day study conducted on 30 participants, using the product twice daily, pores appeared 28% clearer and blemishes decreased by 23%.
Essential Purifier is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin; it has been ophthalmologically tested. Its non-comedogenic formula is also suitable for combination to oily skin, on which it has been tested. It can be used alone or as the second step in a double-cleansing routine, for a revitalized and radiant complexion after rinsing.
In the evening, after a day of wearing makeup or water-resistant sunscreen, a rinse-off foam isn’t always enough to remove everything. For this reason, we recommend starting withIsdin’s makeup-removing oil, massaged into dry skin and then emulsified with a little water. It breaks down oily residues, and then Essential Purifier completes the cleansing process, leaving skin clean and free of any residue.

At the counter, oily skin that “shines more and more” is often the result of over-cleansing. Over-cleansing, scrubbing, or rinsing with hot water strips the skin’s surface without curbing sebum production: the skin becomes uncomfortable, without reducing the shine. Cleansing twice a day is sufficient, using a small amount of foam followed by a thorough rinse with lukewarm water that leaves no surfactant residue at the hairline or under the chin.
A cleanser prepares the skin; it does not replace the skincare step that follows. For combination skin, massage the foam first onto the T-zone, where sebum accumulates, then gently spread it toward the cheeks without rubbing too hard. The moisturizer—or the serum in your routine—is then applied to skin that has just been patted dry and is still slightly damp, to ensure easier application.
What’s the difference between ISDIN Essential Purifier and the Essential Cleansing Oil?
The two products target different types of residue. The oil works on the principle that an oil dissolves another oil: it breaks down makeup, sunscreen, and sebum. Essential Purifier, formulated with water-soluble surfactants, removes sweat, pollution, and water-soluble impurities. When used one after the other, they provide a double cleanse.
Can I use ISDIN Essential Purifier in the morning and at night?
Yes. The foam is designed for daily use, both day and night, depending on the skin’s needs. In the morning, it removes sebum and residue from nighttime skincare products; in the evening, it completes the makeup removal process.
Does ISDIN Essential Purifier leave an oily film on the skin?
No. The formula is oil-free and rinses off completely with lukewarm water, leaving no greasy or sticky residue. The “smooth” feeling of the skin after rinsing comes from the glycerin and panthenol, which help retain moisture on the skin’s surface.
