What is Biocanina Tetramethrin BCN Shampoo 200 ml used for?

Biocanina Tetramethrin BCN Shampoo 200 ml is recommended for treating infestations caused by fleas, lice, and ticks in dogs and cats. The tetramethrin in this product is a compound belonging to the pyrethroid family. It was selected for its insecticidal and acaricidal properties. The compound works by contact, blocking the transmission of nerve impulses in insects. These effects are attributed to changes in the membrane permeability of axons to sodium and potassium ions.

One of the major advantages of Biocanina BCN Tetramethrin Shampoo is its ability to quickly eliminate parasites. Thanks to tetramethrin, an effective insecticide, this shampoo acts in record time to kill fleas, ticks, and lice that may infest your pet’s coat. The parasites are paralyzed and then eliminated, which quickly relieves the animal of unpleasant symptoms such as itching and skin irritation.

In addition to its effectiveness in treating current infestations, this antiparasitic shampoo can also be used preventively. By applying it regularly when bathing your pet, you significantly reduce the risk of future parasite infestations. This preventive measure is particularly crucial in regions where parasites are common and can cause serious health problems.

Parasite bites can cause intense and persistent itching in animals. This itching can cause significant discomfort and disrupt your pet’s daily life. By using this anti-parasite shampoo, you provide welcome relief for your pet. By quickly eliminating the parasites responsible for the bites, the shampoo helps soothe itching and reduce skin irritation. Your pet will feel more comfortable and be less likely to scratch, which helps prevent further skin problems.

At the Clément Thékan Veterinary Laboratory, we also offer Calmocanil soothing shampoo at the best price in our online pharmacy.

How should you use this antiparasitic shampoo?

For external use only. Use approximately 1.5 ml of shampoo per kg of body weight (equivalent to 1.5 mg of tetramethrin per kg), or about 25 ml of shampoo for a 15-kg animal.

  • Thoroughly wet the animal with lukewarm water.
  • Apply the shampoo to the back and neck, taking care to avoid the eyes.
  • Rub vigorously, adding water as needed, to create a rich lather and work it over the animal’s entire body.
  • Let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  • Repeat the treatment twice a week if necessary.

Precautions for Use

Do not use on kittens younger than 2 months.
Do not use on sick or convalescing animals, or on animals with extensive skin lesions.
Do not use on pregnant or nursing females.
Do not use other insecticides from the pyrethroid class at the same time.
Avoid contact with the animal’s eyes or mouth. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water.

Adverse effects have been observed in both target species, primarily in cats: primarily neurological symptoms (lethargy, ataxia, tremors, or even seizures), as well as gastrointestinal symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea), with or without anorexia. Treatment is symptomatic.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the medication

- Wash hands after use.
- Do not smoke, drink, or eat while administering the medication.
- Avoid contact with the eyes. In case of accidental eye contact, rinse thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, consult a doctor.
