What is Phyto'Gem Organic Alcohol-Free Linden Gemmotherapy used for?

Phyto'Gem Organic Alcohol-Free Linden Gemmotherapy is a dietary supplement made from the buds of the silver linden (Tilia tomentosa), a tree in the Malvaceae family. It is manufactured by L.A.P.H.T. Phytofrance, a family-owned laboratory founded by a pharmacist and located in Candillargues, in the Hérault region, where Phyto'Gem is the gemmotherapy product line.

It allows you to follow a gemmotherapy regimen without alcohol: while gemmotherapy based on buds is most often available as liquid macerates, this product offers a dry form, in capsules or powder.

Linden buds are among the budstraditionally used in gemmotherapy. Two forms are available for the same plant: capsules, which are easy to carry, and powder in a jar, for people who prefer not to swallow capsules.

To follow the treatment consistently, schedule your doses at specific times throughout your day and store the product in a place you see every day, out of children’s reach. Note the start date: it will help you review the treatment’s progress with your pharmacist.

If you’re taking your capsules to work or while traveling, we recommend the Pilbox Liberty weekly pill organizer. Its seven daily modules, each with four compartments (morning, noon, evening, and night), are detachable: you take only the current day’s doses with you, while the rest of the week’s doses remain prepared at home. The pill organizer does not alter the product; it simply helps organize your doses.

How should you take this linden bud supplement?

Directions for Use

Capsules: 3 capsules per day, to be taken with a large glass of water.

Powder: Mix one level scoop of powder (1.5 g) once a day into a liquid (water, plant-based milk).

Precautions

  • Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
  • Dietary supplements should be used as part of a healthy lifestyle and are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: not recommended as a precaution. The European monograph on linden flower (EMA/HMPC, 2012) advises against its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient data; the buds have not been evaluated separately. ANSES further recommends that pregnant women not take any dietary supplements without consulting a healthcare professional.
  • Children: The same monograph advises against the use of linden flower in children under 4 years of age, and under 12 years of age for certain uses, due to a lack of data. Do not give to a child without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
  • If you are currently taking medication or have a chronic condition, consult a doctor or pharmacist before beginning treatment.
  • Do not use if you have a known allergy to linden or any of the ingredients.
  • Do not combine with another supplement containing linden—such as linden bud macerate drops—without consulting a pharmacist, as the effects may be cumulative.
  • Store the bottle of capsules or powder tightly closed, under the conditions indicated on the packaging. Keep out of reach of young children.

Our expert advice on linden buds

The most important consideration is the context of use: choose this supplement to follow an alcohol-free gemmotherapy regimen, not as a substitute for medical advice. If you experience persistent, recurring, or symptoms accompanied by other signs, consult a doctor before choosing a herbal remedy.

The most important precautions here concern pregnancy, breastfeeding, and children: review them carefully before offering this product to a loved one. And if you’re already taking other herbal supplements, consult your pharmacist before adding this one.

FAQ

What is the difference between Phyto'Gem Organic Alcohol-Free Linden Gemmotherapy and the Phyto'Gem linden macerate I’m familiar with?

The Phyto'Gem Linden Macerate is a concentrated glycerin macerate made from buds, sold in a 40-ml dropper bottle and containing 18% alcohol by volume. The alcohol-free version comes in a dry form and is not measured in drops: its dosage varies depending on the form.

Is my Phyto'Gem Linden equivalent to linden herbal tea?

No. Linden tea is made from the flower, whereas the Phyto'Gem line uses the bud. For silver linden, French regulations distinguish between the leaf, bud, flower, and bark as the parts permitted in dietary supplements: each part yields a different preparation.

Why is my Phyto'Gem Linden classified as gemmotherapy?

Gemmotherapy uses the young, actively growing tissues of plants: buds, young shoots, rootlets, and young bark. The linden bud fits this definition, unlike the flower, which is the mature part of the tree used in traditional herbal medicine.
