Medical description

Keto-Diastix® is an in vitro diagnostic medical device for the semi-quantitative detection of glucose (glycosuria) and ketone bodies (ketonuria) in urine.

These urine test strips are used in the monitoring of diabetes, particularly in insulin-dependent patients or those suffering from glycemic imbalance. They enable rapid identification of the presence of urine glucose when blood glucose levels exceed the renal threshold, as well as excessive production of ketone bodies in the event of insulin deficiency.

Diabetes is a chronic metabolic pathology characterized by persistent hyperglycemia. When the body cannot properly use glucose as an energy source, it mobilizes fats, resulting in the formation of ketone bodies. Significant accumulation of ketones can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis, a complication requiring rapid medical attention.

Keto-Diastix® is a complementary self-monitoring tool for early detection of metabolic imbalance.

How to use Keto-Diastix

  1. Collect fresh urine in a clean, dry container, or pass the strip under the urine stream.
  2. Immerse the test area briefly without touching the colorimetric parts.
  3. Drain off excess urine.
  4. Read results:
  • Ketones: 15 seconds after immersion
  • Glucose: 30 seconds after immersion

Do not interpret results beyond the recommended time.

It is advisable to record results for regular follow-up.

Pharmacist's advice

Urine test strips do not replace capillary blood glucose monitoring. They should be used as a complement to regular medical monitoring.

The Accu-Chek Guide Wireless blood glucose meter is easy to use and provides accurate results for better diabetes management.

The use of Keto-Diastix® test strips is particularly recommended:

  • Persistent hyperglycemia
  • In the presence of infection, fever or metabolic stress
  • Nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain
  • When insulin therapy is unbalanced

In the event of moderate or elevated ketonuria, it is imperative to contact a healthcare professional as soon as possible.

Store strips between 15°C and 30°C, in their hermetically sealed bottle. Do not remove the desiccant.
