Don’t just wing it—follow nature’s rhythm: don’t introduce solid food too early, ensure adequate protein intake, and so on. Additionally, be careful not to always give it the same flavors, because if you later want to change its diet (for example, if the food you used to buy is no longer available), it won’t be accustomed to the new flavors you offer and may refuse them.

What is the feeding schedule for a weaned kitten?

• At first, your kitten will eat at least four meals a day, which will provide it with energy throughout the day. If that’s not possible for you, feed it three times a day, but leave a little dry food out as a snack.
• As it grows, the kitten usually transitions to 3 meals a day and then, around six months of age, to 2 meals a day. Unlike some dogs, kittens do not adapt well to a schedule of just one meal a day.
• Cats prefer their food at room temperature. If you take it out of the refrigerator, let it warm up a bit before serving it.
