Our expert pharmacy advice

Since its creation in 1976, MAM's mission has been to combine medical know-how, design and functionality for high quality baby products.

In which cases can nipple shields help you ?

  • In case of flat or inverted nipples. The nipple shields will then help your baby to have the sucking reflex.
  • In case of cracks. Not only will you no longer suffer (or at least you will suffer much less) but your nipple will heal more quickly.
  • If you suffer from a very important lactation. With the nipple shields, the milk will arrive less quickly and it will be much more pleasant for your baby to suckle.
  • In case of premature delivery. Since your baby is weaker, the nipple shields will make it easier for him and he will be able to suckle more easily.

Relieve your chest
For the first few days, expose your nipples to air or light after each feed. Leave some dried milk on your nipples. It has lubricating and anti-infectious properties. If your breasts are swollen and painful (engorged), cold compresses will reduce the swelling, then a light massage and warmth (hot towel or hot shower) will help the milk flow. You'll feel more comfortable if you squeeze out some milk before breastfeeding to relieve pressure and if you breastfeed more often.
