Description

Lansoÿl is a laxative jelly used to treat occasional constipation . It is a lubricant laxative. Liquid paraffin acts by mechanical action by lubricating the contents of the colon, and by softening the stools. Reserved for adults and children over 15 years old.

Constipation is defined as a difficulty or delay in passing stool . They are rare, hard or difficult to evacuate. Constipation is considered to be when you have a bowel movement less than three times a week. This slowing of intestinal transit can be linked to:

a laziness in the colon to contract which causes the stool to move slowly,
too dry stools which makes their evacuation more difficult.

Occasional constipation is transient: it can be due to a change in lifestyle, stress, a change in diet. It must be distinguished from chronic constipation which requires medical advice.

Composition

Liquid paraffin 78.23 g per 100 g of gel
Excipients: lactulose syrup, sorbitol, citric acid monohydrate, gelatin, aromatic composition (natural and artificial raspberry flavors containing ethanol, natural plum flavor), saccharin sodium, drinking water. Colorant: cochineal red A (E 124).
Excipients with known effect: Sorbitol, cochineal red A.

Dosage

1 tablespoon to renew if necessary 1 to 3 times a day, without exceeding the maximum dosage of 3 tablespoons per day.

Delay of action from 6 to 8 hours. Do not go to bed after taking this medication (2 hours)

Contraindications

Allergy to any of the ingredients, difficulty swallowing, unidentified abdominal pain

Cons-indications

Do not take LANSOYL RASPBERRY, oral jelly in a jar:

· if you are allergic to the active substance or to any of the other ingredients of this medication mentioned in section 6,

· if you suffer from abdominal pain that you do not know the cause,

· if you have swallowing difficulties (swallow properly) due to the risk of bronchial inhalation and lipoid pneumonitis.

Precautions for use; special warnings

Take special care with LANSOYL RASPBERRY, oral jelly:

Special warnings

In children the administration of laxatives should be exceptional, consult your doctor.

Do not use this medication for long periods of time. the prolonged use of liquid paraffin is likely to reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K).

The drug treatment of constipation is only an adjunct to the hygiene-dietetic treatment which consists of:

· an enrichment of the diet of vegetable fibers and drinks,

· the practice of physical activity,

· the rehabilitation of the defecation reflex.

In case of chronic constipation, which may be related to bowel disease or an imbalance of intestinal function due to eating habits and lifestyle, TAKE ADVICE OF YOUR DOCTOR.

Precautions for use

· The administration of liquid paraffin in young children, bedridden patients or those with difficulty in swallowing should be cautious as it may cause bronchial passage and respiratory problems.

· Use of this medication is not recommended in patients with fructose intolerance and galactose or sucrase / isomaltase deficiency (rare hereditary diseases).

· This medicinal product contains 2.12 g of sucrose per tablespoon which must be taken into account in the daily diet in the case of a diet low in sugar or in case of diabetes.

· This medicine contains an azo dye (E124) and may cause allergic reactions.

Dosage

· Adult: one tablespoon to be renewed if necessary 1 to 3 times per 24 hours, without exceeding the maximum dosage of 3 tablespoons per 24 hours.

· Child: according to medical opinion.

· If the treatment fails, do not increase the dose, but take the advice of your doctor.

Method and route of administration

Oral use.

Frequency of Administration

The intake will be at a distance from meals:

· preferably in the morning on an empty stomach;

· 2 hours before or after meals;

· if you take it in the evening, you should not avoid being treated within two hours and take into account the risk of the laxative effect in the night.

Duration of treatment

The duration of use is limited to 15 days.

Symptoms and Instructions for Overdose

If you take more LANSOYL RASPBERRY, Oral Jelly Pot than you should:

Stop treatment and see your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

An overdose may cause an excessive laxative effect and adverse effects as mentioned in section 4.

Instructions for omission of one or more doses

If you forget to take LANSOYL RASPBERRY, oral jelly in a jar:

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4. WHAT ARE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

Description of adverse reactions

Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following adverse reactions have been reported with an indeterminate frequency (can not be estimated from the available data):

· Diarrhea,

· Oily flow at the anus,

· Irritation in the anus.

In exceptional conditions or because of misuse, possibilities for respiratory problems ( see section "Precautions for use, special warnings" ).

Do not use LANSOYL RASPBERRY, oral jelly gel after the expiry date which is stated on the outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature below 25 ° C.

This medication is a lubricating laxative . It acts by softening the stool and facilitating their progression in the intestine.
It is used in the symptomatic treatment of constipation.

WARNING ^(Contents)

This medicine may reduce the absorption of certain vitamins (A, D, E, K) during prolonged use.
Lubricant laxatives contain oils which, in the event of accidental passage in the bronchi (disorders of swallowing, vomiting, gastroesophageal reflux ...), expose to serious lung complications. This medication should be taken at least 2 hours before bedtime and should be used with caution in elderly patients who have difficulty swallowing and in young children.
The use of laxatives must remain exceptional in children.
This medicinal product contains a significant quantity of sugar (sucrose).

PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING ^(summary)

This medication does not contain any substance known to be toxic during pregnancy or lactation; nevertheless, it can reduce the absorption of certain vitamins : its use must be punctual.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE ^(summary)

This medication should be taken at a distance from meals, at least 2 hours before bedtime.
The laxative effect occurs within 6 to 8 hours.

Usual dosage:

Adult: 1 to 3 tablespoons or 1 to 3 unidoses per day.
Child 2 to 15 years: 1 to 3 teaspoons per day. In children over 12 years of age, it is also possible to use single doses of 1 or 2 doses per day.
Infant under 2 years of age: ½ teaspoon, 1 or 2 times daily.

The duration of treatment should not exceed 15 days without medical advice.

lubricating laxative
It is a fatty substance, not absorbed by the intestine, which facilitates the transit and the elimination of the stool. It is devoid of toxicity, but its prolonged use reduces the absorption of certain essential vitamins (A, D, E, K).

gastroesophageal reflux
Raising the gastric juice in the esophagus and in the back of the throat, favored by the extended position after meals, by leaning forward, by wearing clothes that compress the abdomen. This reflux is sometimes due to a hiatal hernia.

sugar
General term for various substances of which the most widely used is sucrose. Other sugars can be contained in drugs: glucose, fructose, lactose, etc. Glucose is the sugar used by the body; it is the only one to circulate in considerable quantity in the blood.
