Skin reaction (itching, pimples, swelling) or general discomfort appearing after contact with a particular substance, use of a medicine or ingestion of food. The main forms of allergy are eczema, urticaria, asthma, angioedema and allergic shock (anaphylactic shock). Food allergy can also result in digestive problems.

antecedent
Affection cured or still evolving. The antecedent can be personal or family. History is the history of a person's health.

anti-inflammatory
Drug that fights inflammation. It can be either derived from cortisone (steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) or not derived from cortisone (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug or NSAID).

asthma
A disease characterized by difficulty in breathing, often resulting in wheezing. Asthma, permanent or seizure, is due to narrowing and inflammation of the bronchi.

eczema
Skin disease manifested by pimples and severe itching. Eczema may be due to contact with an allergenic substance (contact eczema) or be linked to a genetic predisposition (atopic eczema).

sprain
Injury to the ligaments of a joint due to trauma.

skin rash
Appearance of pimples or plaques on the skin. These lesions can be due to a food or a drug, and reflect an allergy or a toxic effect. Many viruses can also cause rashes of pimples: those of rubella, roseola and measles are the best known.

inflammation
