What is Phytosun Aroms Ylang-Ylang essential oil used for?

Ylang-Ylang is a tree native to Indonesia, cultivated mainly in the Comoros, Reunion and Madagascar. Its flowers are yellow and give off a delicious, exotic fragrance. It is these very flowers that are steam-distilled to obtain the essential oil. Originating from Madagascar, Reunion Island and the Comoros Islands, ylang-ylang flowers are highly prized by perfumers and aromatherapists for their soothing properties. Pale yellow to slightly orange in color, it can be used for diffusion, inhalation and on the skin.

Ylang-Ylang EO, with its warm, flowery fragrance, is frequently used in massage oils for its toning and regenerating action on facial and body skin.

How to use this essential oil

Oral use: prohibited Skin use: *** Diffusion: *

Decreased desire (adults)
1 drop of Ylang-Ylang + 1 drop of Cinnamon bark + 5 drops of Argan Vegetable Oil, 2 drops of this mixture massaged into the lower abdomen.

Scalp irritation (adults)
1 drop of Ylang-Ylang + 1 drop of Rosemary 1.8 + 1 drop of Tea-Tree, 1 drop of this blend for 1 dose of shampoo.

Hair tonic: Mix 1 drop into your usual shampoo, wash and leave on for 2 minutes before rinsing.

Massage: 2 to 5 drops undiluted or diluted in a vegetable oil, then massage the affected areas 3 times a day.
For children over 7, 2 drops 3 times a day.

Precautions for use of Ylang Ylang essential oil

  • Not recommended for pregnant women, as it is urotonic.
  • Do not use undiluted (dermocautical), always dilute.

Ylang-Ylang flowers are best harvested from April to June at sunrise, until 10 a.m. This EO, highly prized by perfumers, is generally offered in four qualities (extra, 1, 2 and 3), representing four fractions of a complete distillation lasting an average of 18 hours. For therapeutic use, full distillation is necessary, as its biochemical composition is more balanced. Its scent is warm and flowery, its flavor slightly bitter, and its color pale yellow. Extra quality is the most fragrant and the most expensive!
