The cradle of this orange is between the Himalayas and southern China. It is the Portuguese who brought it to 1400. Since then, its cultivation has spread considerably in many countries. The sweet orange tree, a small tree of the family Rustacées is an ancient hybrid, probably from a cross between Citrus maxima and Citrus reticulata.
