It is an anti-psoriatic plant by anti-inflammatory activity (terpinene-4-ol) and anti-Staphylococcus aureus resistant to methicillin, with lysis and loss of the integrity of the Staphylococcus aureus membrane, manifested by the leakage of ions and the inhibition of respiration. There is activity on various dermatological conditions (skin and mucous membranes), such as acne vulgaris, seborrheic dermatitis and chronic gingivitis.
It accelerates healing and has anti-cancer activity on the skin. It also eliminates the pathogenic flora of the skin while maintaining the resident flora. This EO is antiasthenic, cardiac tonic, phlebotonic, venous decongestant, neurotonic and analgesic. It is also radioprotective (like other Melaleuca). Manuka exerts a spasmolytic action, whereas Kanuka and Melaleuca alternifolia have a spasmogenic action on the diaphragm and the uterus in vitro (which justifies the contraindication during pregnancy).
