Advice from your expert pharmacist on baby teething

Recognize the symptoms of teething in infants

A grumpy baby who nibbles his fist or rubs his gums is probably teething. By running your finger over the gum, you can feel the tooth ready to pierce. This usually happens between the third and eighth month. When the teeth come through, the child may be restless, whine, have less appetite. He may have red cheeks and a sore chin. He constantly puts his fingers in his mouth and chews whatever comes his way. The secretion of saliva becomes more intense

Treatment of teething in babies

For teething pain, you can gently rub the gum tissue with a finger or a small piece of crushed ice, or give the baby a plastic ring intended for this use to chew on. This ring can be refrigerated, but not frozen, to benefit from the anesthetic effects of the cold. If the pain persists and there are no other signs, paracetamol can be effective. It is also possible to apply a solution to target analgesic on the gum.
