COOPER Paraffin Oil

Paraffin oil is a laxative used by mouth. Cooper paraffin oil is recommended for occasional constipation.

Description of paraffin oil

Cooper paraffin oil is a natural remedy to fight constipation .

How does paraffin oil work to treat constipation ?
Unlike other edible oils, paraffin oil does not pass through the digestive mucosa. When ingested, it lines the lining of the colon and rectum, then acts as a lubricant to aid in the elimination of stool. It also has the property of softening the faeces, which are thus more easily evacuated. Its mode of action is mechanical and also makes the elimination of stool less painful, in case of anal fissure for example.

Using advice and opinion on paraffin oil cooper

  • In adults : oral 15 to 45 ml, or 1 to 3 tablespoons per day.
  • In children over 6 years of age : oral route: 10 to 15 ml, i.e. 2 to 3 teaspoons per day.

It will preferably be taken at a distance from meals. If taken in the evening, it is recommended not to go to bed within 2 hours of it (see section see "Warnings, Precautions for use") and to take into account the time of action (6 -8 hours).

Precaution for use with paraffin oil cooper

Special warnings

  • Prolonged use of a laxative is not recommended. The drug treatment of constipation is only an adjunct to the diet-health treatment: enrichment of the diet with vegetable fibers and drinks; advice on physical activity and rehabilitation of exemption.
  • In children the administration of laxatives must be exceptional: it must take into account the risk of hampering the normal functioning of the exemption reflex.

Precautions for use

  • Prolonged use of paraffin oil may reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K). The administration of paraffin oil in young children, debilitated people, lying down or having difficulty swallowing must be careful because of the risk of bronchial inhalation and lipoid pneumonia.

Our opinion from pharmacy experts

Constipation what to do? The effective remedies in the event of a crisis!

Anti constipation treatments depend on the type of constipation you suffer from, its cause (s) and manifestations.
The first step in fighting constipation is to change your eating habits. We always prefer to act in prevention thanks to natural remedies which make it possible to understand where constipation comes from, rather than in emergency with laxative drugs which will certainly relieve you, but without you understanding the origin and the cause of your constipation.
However, it takes time and is not always enough. In some cases, the use of laxative substances, whether natural or medicated, is therefore useful.

It is a fatty substance, not absorbed by the intestine, which facilitates the transit and elimination of stool. It is devoid of toxicity, but its prolonged use decreases the absorption of certain essential vitamins (A, D, E, K).

gastroesophageal reflux
Raising of gastric juice in the esophagus and the back of the throat, favored by lying down after meals, by leaning forward, by wearing clothes that compress the abdomen. This reflux is sometimes due to a hiatal hernia.

vitamins
Substance essential to the growth and the good functioning of the organism. Vitamin requirements are normally covered by a varied diet.
