Description Forlax 4g 20 Sachets
Forlax 4g 20 Sachets contains an osmotic laxative. It increases the amount of water in the faeces, which helps to solve problems caused by slow intestinal transit. Forlax 4g is not absorbed into the bloodstream and is not modified in the body. It is used for the treatment of constipation in children aged 6 months to 8 years.
The treatment of constipation by a drug should be combined with lifestyle rules and a healthy diet.
Using advice Forlax 4g 20 Sachets
The contents of the sachet should be diluted in about 50 ml of water.
The laxative effect occurs 24 to 48 hours after dosing.
Children 4 to 8 years: 2-4 sachets to 4 g daily in two divided doses (morning and evening).
Children ages 1 and 4: 1 to 4 g sachet per day, taken in the morning in 1 or 2 packets to 4 g daily in two divided doses (morning and evening).
Child of 6 months to 1 year: 1 bag at 4 g per day, in the morning.
Composition of Forlax 4g 20 Sachets
The active substance is Macrogol 4000, each pouch containing 4,00g.
The other ingredients are: sodium saccharin (E954) and the orange-grapefruit flavor (containing essential oils of orange and grapefruit juice, orange juice concentrate, citral, acetic aldehyde, linalool, ethyl butyrate, alpha terpineol, of octanal, beta gamma hexenol, maltodextrin, gum arabic, sorbitol (E420), BHA (E 320) and sulfur dioxide (E 220).
Precaution of use
Do not give Forlax 4g 20 Sachets if:
- Your child is allergic (hypersensitive) to macrogol (polyethylene glycol) or to any of the other ingredients of the drug and which are listed in section 6 "Further information" of the record.
- Your child has a disease such as severe bowel disease:
- inflammatory bowel disease (such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease)
- bowel perforation or risk of bowel perforation
- Ileus or suspicion of intestinal obstruction.
- Abdominal pain of unknown cause.
Very rare cases of allergic reactions manifesting as skin rash and swelling of the face have been reported in adults after taking drugs containing macrogol (polyethylene glycol). Isolated cases of severe allergic reactions leading to unconsciousness or malaise and general ill feelings have been reported.
If your child has any of these symptoms contact your doctor immediately. An organic cause must be ruled out before starting treatment; contact your pharmacist or doctor before administering this drug.
To the extent that this drug can sometimes cause diarrhea, contact your doctor or pharmacist before giving this medicine if your child:
has renal or hepatic function,
taking diuretics (medicines that increase the urinary elimination) because your child is likely to have a decrease in blood levels of sodium (salt) and potassium.
Using other medicines
If your child is taking or has recently taken other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
