Grains de Vals 12.5 mg 20 tablets on sale in our pharmacy Bio is a drug indicated for the treatment of occasional constipation in adults.

GRAINS DE VALS 12,5MG 20 TABLETS

For warnings, precautions for use and contraindications, please consult the instructions for use.

The causes of constipation are multiple and most often not serious. And, fortunately, simple lifestyle measures are often very effective in dealing with this very feminine condition.
Some constipation is caused by a slowdown in the progression of food along the colon (large intestine). In others, there are difficulties in evacuating stool from the rectum (terminal part of the colon) and anus ("terminal constipation").

Description of Grains of Vals 12.5 mg 20 Tablets

Grains de Vals 12.5 mg 20 Tablets is a medicine containing a stimulating laxative which increases secretions and motility of the intestine. It is used in the short-term symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults. It contains Senna , a plant with stimulating laxative properties .

Senna contains anthracene derivatives (sennosides A and B). In the colon, the sennosides contained in the senna are digested by the bacteria of the intestinal flora and release anthraquinones which accelerate the transit in two ways: by inhibiting the absorption of the water contained in the digested food (the stools remain soft ) and stimulating bowel movements. The laxative effect of senna is also due to an irritant action on the walls of the intestine, which limits its use.

Using advice from Grains of Vals 12.5 mg 20 Tablets

Grains de Vals 12.5 mg 20 Tablets is reserved for adults. The usual dose is 1 to 2 tablets per day, to be taken before the evening meal. Do not exceed 8 to 10 days of treatment.

Whether it is occasional or persistent, constipation affects 1 in 4 people and affects women in 80% of cases. We can speak of constipation when the stools are hard, dry and difficult to evacuate. In general, this is diagnosed below 3 bowel movements per week. Occasional constipation most often results in bloating and stomach pain, but can lead to serious complications.

COUNCIL / HEALTH EDUCATION

The specialty GRAINS DE VALS 12,5 mg coated tablet is intended only for the short-term treatment of occasional constipation of the adult and should not be used in case of chronic constipation.

Occasional constipation is usually due to a change in daily habits (travel, diet change, stress). Poor eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle may also result in constipation over a longer period (chronic constipation).

Isolated, though unpleasant, constipation is trivial. Some simple advice of hygiene of life most often allow to facilitate the intestinal transit and the emission of the saddles:

· Eat green vegetables, high in fiber and fresh fruit , which promote transit. You can also consume progressively and without abusing it, bread or biscuits to the sound or the complete cereals,

· Avoid foods that are too greasy and too sweet,

· Drink enough (at least 1.5 liters / day) and regularly during the day (water, fruit juice, soup ...)

· Introduce yourself to the toilet at a fixed time to facilitate the rehabilitation of the defecation reflex,

· Do not forget physical exercise such as walking or gymnastics, excellent ways to combat constipation.

GLOSSARY (summary)

corticosteroids
Substance close to cortisone. The natural corticoids, necessary for the functioning of the organism, are made by the adrenal glands. Synthetic corticosteroids, chemical derivatives of cortisone, are used as powerful anti-inflammatory drugs.

addiction
Psychic or physical need caused by taking certain natural or medicinal substances. This condition may be accompanied, at cessation of the catch, by various symptoms, grouped under the term of withdrawal syndrome.

diuretics
Medication allowing increased kidney water removal. Most often, this loss of water follows the loss of salts caused by the drug (salidiuretic).
Diuretics are mainly used in the treatment of high blood pressure, while their mechanism of action in this disease is poorly understood. They are also prescribed in acute or chronic heart failure, edema and other rarer ailments.
These drugs cause loss of sodium and potassium (except for some of them called "potassium-sparing"). Their prolonged administration therefore requires regular blood potassium control, to avoid heart problems that may result from hypokalemia (lack of potassium in the blood). Lack of sodium is another possible but less frequent consequence of the prolonged use of diuretics; it is also detected by a blood test.

fecal impaction
Stool plug in the rectum or in the colon. It is to be feared in the elderly or constipated, or those who remain bedridden for a long time. It exposes to a risk of obstruction of the digestive tract.

stimulating laxative
A powerful but irritating laxative for the digestive tract, responsible for a loss of mineral salts (potassium, etc.) by the body. Its prolonged use causes an addiction: it is no longer possible to go to the saddle without medication. In the long term, definitive lesions of the internal wall of the intestine may appear (laxative disease).

potassium
Mineral element present in large quantities in the body.
See also: kalaemia.

sodium
An inorganic substance which can form salts, especially with chlorine (sodium chloride, or table salt).

torsades de pointes
Severe heart rhythm disorder, favored by:
  • hypokalaemia or situations favoring it: significant and prolonged diarrhea, repeated use of stimulant laxative, etc.,
  • a heart too slow,
  • a visible predisposition on the electrocardiogram,
  • taking certain medications.
Drugs that can cause torsades de pointes include quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol, ibutilide, certain neuroleptics, cisapride, diphenemil, halofantrine, mizolastine, pentamidine, moxifloxacin and erythromycin.

symptomatic treatment
Treatment that suppresses or alleviates the symptoms of a disease without addressing its cause.

heart rhythm disorders
Severe or benign anomaly of the frequency of contractions of the heart. Extrasystole is contraction occurring just before or after a normal contraction, often perceived as a slight shock in the chest. Fibrillation is an irregular and disorderly contraction. Other disorders include torsades de pointes, Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome, Bouveret's disease, tachysystolia, flutter and atrioventricular block, etc.

way
  • Pathway (route of administration) used to administer drugs: oral, sublingual, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, intradermal, transdermal.
  • Set of hollow organs allowing the passage of air (respiratory tract), food (digestive tract), urine (urinary tract), bile (bile ducts), etc.
