Indication
Phytoxil syrup is particularly effective in the event of a dry and fatty cough , associated or not with an irritation of the throat , in particular when this is associated with an infection of the upper respiratory tract .
- Greasy cough , thanks to the combined action of plantain and thyme, which help to thin the mucus by hydrating it to facilitate physiological expectoration.
- Dry cough , thanks to the muco-adhesive action of white mallow and glycerol, which form a film protecting the mucous membrane from irritating external agents.
- Throat irritation
Coughing is a natural bodily mechanism used to purify the airways of inhaled impurities. It is usually due to irritation which can be located in the respiratory sphere : the trachea, the bronchi. In bronchitis, the cough is usually "dry" at first and then becomes oily within a few days. But during a winter respiratory illness, the cough can be “mixed”: sometimes dry, sometimes oily, depending on the time.
Phytoxil Toplexil PHYTO syrup for adults and children against cough, acts by mechanical action on the irritated mucosa thanks to two mechanisms:
- It promotes hydration of mucus in order to facilitate physiological expectoration ;
- It forms a film protecting the respiratory mucosa against any contact with irritating external agents.

Our expert pharmacy advice
Coughing cleanses the lungs and frees them of secretions contaminated with microbes. First, the cough is often caused by a runny nose. Little by little, this discharge accumulates and irritates the back of the nose, it triggers coughing fits , especially when lying down during a cold, sinusitis or angina. Also, an infection of the windpipe (tracheitis), bronchi (bronchitis) or lungs (pneumonia) can cause a severe cough.
What is the difference between dry cough and fatty cough?
- A dry cough is characterized by inflammation of the airways. In fact, it is an irritating cough and does not produce phlegm.
- A "fatty" cough is characterized by an accumulation of secretions in the bronchi. In fact, it is a defense of the body that produces phlegm in order to expel the agents responsible for inflammation.
Additional advice in case of cough:
Dry air increases irritation of the mucous membranes and causes coughing fits. If the humidity level in the room is less than 45%, use a humidifier. Choose it preferably in cold air to avoid the risk of burns. There is no need to exceed 55% humidity.
Dry secretions are blocking your child's nose. Use physiological serum (salt water in the form of drops for the nose) at will to rinse his nose thoroughly. Then ask him to blow his nose well. If your baby is too small to blow his nose, suck up his secretions with a baby nose.
