Treatment of flea infestations in dogs
Dosage and use Capstar
The minimum effective dose is 1 mg / kg with the following recommendations:
one tablet is administered to dogs weighing 11.1 kg to 57 kg and two tablets for dogs over 57 kg when a flea infestation is identified.
The frequency of treatment depends on the degree of infestation. In the case of severe infestation, it may be necessary to treat animals every day or every other day, until complete elimination of fleas. The treatment can be repeated if recurrence of fleas. Do not administer more than one treatment per day.
The tablets should be administered orally with or without food. For ease of administration, tablets can be hidden in a small amount of food just before recording.
The product has no residual activity. To prevent re-infestation, it is recommended to combine it with a drug to treat the immature stages of fleas.
The veterinarian may establish a suitable treatment program.

Using Capstar precautionary
During the first hour after administration, it is possible that more intense itching occur in the host animal. This is due to the reaction of the product chips.
Nitenpyram can be administered to pregnant females or lactating.
Studies on laboratory animals (rats and rabbits) have shown no teratogenic or foetotoxic effect. Product safety has been established in pregnant or lactating bitches.

Nitenpyram, active principle, belongs to the class of neonicotinoids.
It binds to nicotinic cholinergic receptors of specific types of insects by inhibiting. It interrupts nerve conduction in the adult flea, causing his death. Nitenpyram does not inhibit acetylcholinesterase.
The effect on fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) is visible 15 to 30 minutes after administration to the host animal. This coincides with the fleas first blood meal, while the effective blood drug concentration is reached. Efficacy against fleas is 95-100% within 6 hours following administration and 100% within 24 hours with no residual activity.
