Why choose FRONTPRO Afoxolaner 68mg for dogs weighing 10-25kg?

These beef-flavored appetizing tablets, which are easy to take and can be mixed into the dog's food, eliminate and kill all fleas (C. felis and C. canis) in just 24 hours to prevent their development and proliferation, by acting on their nervous system. Ticks are killed and eliminated in just 48 hours (Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus).

Afoxolanerl, an insecticide and acaricide from the isoxazoline family. Dogs will be free and protected from parasites for 30 days.

The oral antiparasitic treatment allows the dog to be bathed or washed even after administration. The product can be integrated into a treatment strategy for the control of flea bite allergy dermatitis (FBAD).

FRONTPRO® kills fleas within 8 hours, before they have time to lay eggs. This helps protect your home against fleas.
A single tablet treats a flea infestation for 5 weeks, and a tick infestation for 1 month.

  • Works from the inside out
  • Suitable for all breeds of dog
  • Use from 8 weeks of age with a minimum weight of 2 kg
  • Do not use on cats!

In the event of aflea infestation in your home, we recommend the use of an anti-parasite spray or fogger to eliminate flea nests on a long-term basis.

Directions for use and dosage

Chewable tablets are palatable to most dogs. If the dog does not accept the tablets directly, they can be administered with food.

Treatment schedule:

Monthly intervals during flea and/or tick infestation seasons and according to local epidemiological situations.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency treatment, antidotes) if necessary

No adverse effects were observed in healthy Beagle puppies over 8 weeks of age treated with 5 times the maximum dose, repeated 6 times at intervals of two to four weeks.

Method of administration:

Frontpro is administered orally.

Frontpro tablets are chewable, and are appreciated by most dogs. However, if the dog does not accept the tablets directly, they can be administered with food.

In France, it is possible to buy certain flea tablets for dogs and cats from online pharmacies without a prescription. However, it's important to note that product availability may vary depending on the online pharmacy and the regulations in force. You can also order Adtab flea tablets from the Elanco laboratory from our veterinary pharmacy, which may be available from our online pharmacy without a prescription.

What dosage of Frontpro should I choose for my dog?

Choosing the right dosage of Frontpro for your dog depends on a number of factors, including your dog's weight and size. Frontpro is an anti-parasite medication for dogs that is available in several dosages. It is essential to follow the dosage recommendations provided by your veterinarian or indicated on the product packaging.

Frontpro should be administered according to the following table to ensure the target dose of 2.7-7 mg/kg dog weight:

In general, Frontpro is available in dosages such as 0.67 mg, 1.34 mg, 2.68 mg and 4.02 mg per kilogram of body weight. Here are some general tips for choosing the right dosage:

  • Weigh your dog: To determine your dog's weight accurately, use a pet scale or consult your veterinarian for this information.
  • Consult your veterinarian: We recommend that you consult your veterinarian before administering Frontpro to your dog. Your veterinarian can assess your dog's health, medical history and recommend the appropriate dosage based on its weight and specific needs.
  • Follow instructions: Once you have the appropriate dosage recommended by your veterinarian, carefully follow the administration instructions provided with the product. Frontpro is generally applied using a pipette for direct application to the dog's skin.
  • Respect the frequency of administration: Frontpro should often be administered at regular intervals, usually once a month. Be sure to follow the recommended schedule to ensure continuous protection against parasites.

Remember that Frontpro is for external use only and must not be ingested. If you have any concerns about choosing the right dosage or using Frontpro for your dog, always consult your veterinarian for personalized advice. Your dog's safety and well-being are paramount.

What is the composition of FRONTPRO for Dogs 10-25kg?

68 mg Afoxolaner; Potassium sorbate (E202)

Afoxolaner is an active ingredient in certain flea treatments for dogs and cats. It belongs to the class of isoxazolines, which are insecticidal and acaricidal compounds. Here's how Afoxolaner works against fleas:

  1. Ingestion: When your dog or cat ingests a treatment containing Afoxolaner, the drug is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream.
  2. Blood circulation: Once in the bloodstream, Afoxolaner spreads throughout the animal's body.
  3. Flea feeding: When a flea bites your pet to feed on its blood, it also ingests Afoxolaner.
  4. Nervous system action: Once ingested by the flea, Afoxolaner targets the insect's nervous system.
  5. Blocking sodium channels: Afoxolaner acts by specifically binding to the sodium channels present in the flea's nervous system.
  6. Paralysis and death: By blocking sodium channels, Afoxolaner disrupts the transmission of nerve signals within the flea. This leads to paralysis and eventual death.
  7. Elimination: Once the flea is paralyzed and dead, it is removed from the animal's coat, usually when it scratches, licks or grooms itself.

It's important to note that Afoxolaner-based flea treatment doesn't usually affect the animal in a negative way, as it specifically targets the fleas and not the animal's nervous system. However, it is essential to follow the product's administration instructions and consult your veterinarian to choose the right treatment for your pet, based on its weight, age and specific flea protection needs.
