advice

The different degrees of burn

Doctors do talk about the degree of burns depending on the depth.

  • The 1st degree burn is the most superficial and corresponds to the classic sunburn. Only the epidermis is affected. Under the epidermis, there is vasodilation, an increase in the diameter of the blood capillaries. The skin is red and sore, but intact. There is not particularly a blister.
  • The 2nd degree burn is deeper. It is characterized by bubbles (or blisters, or blisters) which appear, either immediately or within hours of the burn. The bubbles are filled with a transparent liquid. They are surrounded by a red zone: erythema. The dermis, a deep layer of the skin, is affected.
