Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) - also called prostate adenoma or benign prostatic hyperplasia - usually affects men over 50.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is characterized by an increase in the size of the prostate. This plant-based medicine contains 160 mg of lipidosterol extract of serenoa repens, more commonly known as Florida palm. Experimental work, carried out in animals or in vitro on prostate cells, has shown that the lipid-sterolic extract of Serenoa repens:

• exhibits non-competitive inhibition properties of 5 α-reductase (type 1 and 2), an enzyme which transforms testosterone into its active metabolite, dihydrotestosterone;
• inhibits the formation of prostaglandins and leukotrienes (demonstrated on polymorphonuclear cells);
• slows down the proliferation of cells originating from benign prostatic hyperplasia, and stimulated by growth factors.

Directions for use and dosage of Permixon 160mg

Adults :

• 2 capsules per day at mealtimes.
• The capsules should be taken with a glass of water.
• The maximum duration of treatment is limited to 6 months.
