How to use Advantix Very Small Dog?

Apply 1 pipette per month directly to the skin of the neck between the shoulder blades, taking care to part the hairs.

To reduce reinfestation by the emergence of new fleas, it is recommended to treat all dogs in the household with Advantix Very Small Dog. Other pets living in the same household should also be treated with an appropriate product. In the event of high parasitic pressure, it is recommended to use in addition an appropriate treatment of the environment against adult fleas and their stages of development. The treatment remains effective if the animal is wet. However, avoid intense and prolonged exposure to water. With repeated exposure to water, the duration of effectiveness may be reduced. In this case, a minimum interval of one week must be respected between two applications. If the dog requires shampoo, this should be done before application of the medication or at least two weeks after application to optimize the effectiveness of the medication.

Administration mode

For cutaneous application only; only on healthy skin.
Take a pipette out of the package. Hold the pipette upright, twist and detach the cap. Place the cap, upside down, on the pipette and twist it to puncture the pipette, then remove the cap.
- For dogs of 10 kg body weight or less: with the dog in a standing position, part the hair between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the end of the pipette on the skin and squeeze firmly several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin.
- For dogs over 10 kg of body weight: with the dog in a standing position, apply the entire contents of the pipette evenly in four points on the back of the animal, from the shoulders to the base of the tail. At each point of application, part the hair until the animal's skin is visible.
Place the end of the pipette on the skin, and squeeze gently to deposit some of the solution on the skin. Do not deposit an excessive quantity of solution on the level of one of the points of application, the solution could run on the sides of the dog.

Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes):

The application of doses equivalent to 5 times the therapeutic dose in healthy puppies or adult dogs did not cause any adverse clinical signs.
It is the same in puppies whose mother received 3 times the therapeutic dose.

Advice from your pharmacist

The attachment of a tick or the bite of a mosquito or sandfly remains possible. Therefore, the transmission of infectious diseases by these parasites cannot be completely excluded if the conditions are unfavorable. Advantix Very Small Dog has repellent activity (anti-feeding) against ticks, sandflies and mosquitoes; this prevents repelled parasites from taking a blood meal and reduces the risk of transmission of canine vector-borne diseases (such as borreliosis, rickettsiosis, ehrlichiosis and leishmaniasis). Avoid contact of the solution with the eyes or mouth of treated dogs. Take care to administer the product correctly as described in the “Dosage and route of administration” section. In particular, take care to prevent any ingestion of the product by licking the application site by treated animals or animals in contact with them. Do not allow children to play with treated animals until application site is dry. This can be ensured by treating the animals in the evening, for example. In this case, do not allow recently treated dogs to sleep with their owners, especially if they are children.

The keys to effective pest control:

  • Treat regularly: fleas and ticks are present almost all year round at our latitudes with peaks in spring and summer. By treating regularly, we limit the risk of massive infestation of the animal and the habitat which are always difficult to manage.
  • Treat all the animals in the household at the same time! (For cats proscribe the use of Advantix which is very toxic in this species; use frontline).
  • Treat the animal and the habitat for better efficiency.
  • Stay alert to the presence of ticks that carry piroplasmosis, a fatal disease in dogs.
