Ladrôme Organic Chaste Tree Extracts is a food supplement allowing the proper functioning of the female cycle.
The chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus), also called pepper tree, or monks' pepper, is a shrub belonging to the Verbenaceae family, of which it is one of the 3000 species. Can measure 1.5 to 5 m high, it is recognizable by its bushy branches ending in a thin and long spike of bluish or purplish flowers that give off a peppery smell. Native to the Mediterranean basin and Central Asia, it grows near humid places.
The used parts of the plant are the flowering tops and the fruits of the shrub. The fruits are round berries, 5 mm in diameter, containing 4 seeds whose active ingredients are an essential oil and glucosides.
Chasteberry is used for its hormonal regulating action in connection with disorders of the female menstrual cycle . According to the European Medicines Agency, the traditional use of chaste tree is recognized in the treatment of menstrual cycle disorders (irregular periods or absence) and to relieve premenstrual syndrome ( fatigue , abdominal bloating , breast tension, irritability , pain head ). It is its dried and crushed berries that are used to produce standardized extracts which are then used. The plant has also been studied in some forms of female infertility
