SCHOLL 8 Coricidal dressing for corns on the feet

Containing 40% salicylic acid , the disc removes corns and the ultra-soft bandage immediately relieves pain .

A callus (or horn) is a thickening of the surface layer of the skin, the epidermis. In the majority of cases, the callus is located at the level of the sole of the foot, sometimes at the level of the palm of the hand. A benign condition, the horn on the foot (or callus on the foot) can nevertheless cause real discomfort when walking and sometimes even become infected and require surgery.

What are the causes of the appearance of horns and calluses?

The main cause of corns and calluses is due to repeated rubbing of the skin on the shoe, but deformations of the foot can also cause corns to appear. Indeed, an unbalanced foot or an angular forefoot causes friction that promotes the horn .

The friction and / or the excessive pressure on the bones of the foot produce a thickening of the horn of the feet by stimulating the production of the major protein of the epidermis which is keratin .

In addition to the pain and thickening of the skin that the corns and calluses cause, they can also cause lameness, a load transfer responsible then for bone and joint disorders, a suppuration linked to the infection of the localized serous bursa under the horn or under the friction zone .

Our advice and opinions from pharmacy experts

How to prevent corns and calluses?

Choosing the right shoes

  • No shoes, too tight, too narrow.
  • No high heels (3-4 cm maximum).
  • No oversized shoes.
  • Prefer light, flexible, fairly wide, seamless shoes to avoid chafing.
  • Avoid shoes with synthetic soles to limit perspiration.

Hygiene care

  • Wash your feet daily with soap and water and especially dry them well, especially between your toes to avoid maceration. In fact, the residual humidity is a factor in the superinfection of soft corns by bacteria or fungi.
  • The use of a foot moisturizer is strongly recommended on a daily basis.
