The dosage of paracetamol depends on the weight of the child; ages are given for information.

Paracetamol exists in many dosages, allowing the treatment to be adapted to the weight of each child.

Warning : this presentation contains 1000 mg of paracetamol per tablet: do not take 2 tablets at the same time.

It is generally not necessary to exceed 3 g of paracetamol per day or 3 tablets per day.
However, in case of more intense pain, and on the advice of your doctor , the total dose can be increased up to 4 g per day, or 4 tablets per day.
Always respect an interval of 4 hours minimum between the catches.
In the event of severe kidney disease (severe renal failure), the catches should be 8 hours apart and the total dose should not exceed 3 tablets per day (3 g).

The only contraindication of paracetamol is serious liver disease.
It is often well tolerated and is very rarely responsible for side effects (mainly allergic skin reactions and low platelets in the blood).
However, you must be careful when using it , because many specialties contain paracetamol and the joint intake of several drugs containing it can lead to an overdose which could cause serious damage to the liver . The misuse of paracetamol is the leading cause of drug-induced liver transplants in France. It is therefore particularly important to respect the recommended doses and the recommended duration of treatment . The risk of toxicity to the liver is increased in certain situations: undernutrition, dehydration, alcohol dependence, viral hepatitis, person weighing less than 50 kg.
